Wilton Course I, Class I

Last night was my first Wilton class and I had such a great time; I am looking forward to getting into the decorating!

There are 6 students in my class, which I guess is a good amount. I’d think that less is always better, but as Clara pointed out, having more people enables you to learn from one another. So wise, so wise. The instructor is great – she owns a local bakery and has been decorating cakes for probably longer than I’ve been alive!

The first class covered some of the following basics:

• Different icing consistencies
• How to properly assemble a pastry bag
• A demonstration on how to level a cake
• Filling and icing a cake to prep for decoration
• How to color icing

After class we all went out into the store to pick up some supplies that will be used in the class. Below are some pictures of the things I picked up:

A caddy to keep all of my supples in
